If she is living with her DF'd father, why does she want to be a Witness?
As for the bluff, the father is the only bluff she might need. After all, who knows more about the procedures than someone who has been through it?

my friend's daughter, who was baptized at 14, has decided to leave the witnesses.
she's in her early 20's.
she's stopped going to meeting a while ago and moved in with her father who is disfellowshipped.

why did you get baptized?.
what do you think they would reply?.
because it is the truth!
I usually ask them if they CAN think?
i knew one that died not too long ago.
he was an old presiding overseer of one congo since the early 1960's.. he died in the saddle with his boots on.. he was watchtower overseer and cobe.. he died at 90.. he was beloved by many.. if this new change of getting rid of cobe's happened 10 years ago, when this "honored" one was just 80, i have no idea how he and his family would have taken it.. it certainly would have shaken them and theircongo up.. -----> getting rid of co's at 70.. -----> getting rid of all district overseers.. -----> wt has already let go thousands of bethel workers.. -----> selling off properties and pocketing their profits for themselves.. ----->monthly "donations" from each khall wt/gb owns already.. what a man made up religion.. what a snare and a racket!.
loislane.
On the premise of love and compassion, there is an underlying element that strikes a nerve.
The old guard, or as one CO used to call them..."War Horses" have grown with this organization. They have been steadfast in their allegiance. However, they are typically well versed in procedure and theocratic "common sense" if there is such a thing. In my opinion, this can only mean one thing...significant changes are coming....things that may well shake the very foundation of this organization. Things that these old timers will question or grumble about...we shall see.
does anyone have the article written by the wt saying that the end would come in 1975?.
how did people back then come to this year?
i need this information becuase i was told, this was never literally written by the wt in any publication.. thanks.
There are A LOT of references available on this forum and similar others. The basics: Life Everlasting and Freedom of the Sons of God, I believed published in mid-60's was the cornerstone if my memory serves me correctly. Fred Franz, the obvious writer of the book promotes his chronology with the "6000 years of human existence" starting in 4026 BCE and ending in the momentous year of 1975 AD. 1975 was touted as a year of "tremendous probability" and people, particularly Franz and his chronies like a couple of DO's started revving up the brethren. The ORG can say they never said it, but, like a retired person looking at their account statements from Lehman Brothers going up and up with no end in sight (prior to its collapse), they did not question what was being said. No real cautionary statements. Yes, a cursory comment here or there, "not serving with a date in mind" and all that, but nothing to undermine the rhetoric. I mean, why would they? The ORG was growing leaps and bounds. The truth book comes out in the late 60's and people are being baptized in 6 months or else! That's right! "Don't waste your time on people who expect to study more than six months!" was the mantra in many congregations. There is no time to waste!
Having lived through it...having been baptized as a result of the fervor and extremely fanatical parents close to 1975, it was an event, not just an article. The expectation that Jehovah would soon wipe out every non-Witness was palpable!
i hear that a recent talk was about taking care of one's aging parents.
i agree.
generally, kids should take care of aging parents.
Very good points.
If Jesus condemned people in his day for claiming that all they had was dedicated as "corban" so they didn't have the means to provide for their aged parents. I wonder if he condemns those that believed the drivel from back in 1969 as an "excuse" for not having the means to help their parents today.
Utter foolishness!

i have a genuine question for the jw apologist.
.
what is your scriptural justification for your unquestioning obedience to the governing body and your unwillingness to question their intepretation of scripture?.
The apologist will tell you they are not obeying the GB. They are obeying God. The GB are simply helping them to understand just what God wants them to obey.
Quick response to this foolishness...ask an apologist why they don't celebrate birthdays. Now, ask them what would they do if the Watchtower said it's ok to celebrate birthdays. If they say that they would (new lite and all that) then they are not obeying God they are obeying the GB and we all know that if birthdays were fully acceptable...everyone would celebrate them!
SOP
if so, what would be some examples?.
.
only questions that show a higher degree of thought and intelligence please..
Depends on the questions...
Then again, honestly, why do you want to ask questions when you know the answers already? There is a distinct difference between asking a question and "questioning." In either case, a lot depends on who you are asking.

i must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.
If the story of Noah is true....than that means that destiny is true. Everything is predetermined. Nothing you do or say can change your fate in the eyes of God. Reasoning?
BEFORE Noah started to preach, God had already told him the dimensions of the Ark. Noah then preached for decades while building the Ark. If God had already prescribed the dimensions of the Ark PRIOR to the start of Noah's preaching that would mean that God knew that no one would respond and Noah's preaching was in vain PRIOR to it commencing! If that is the case, then NOTHING....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that you do can amount for much...you are either destinded to live or destined to die.
My take on all this, it is a Hebrew legend to further distinguish the Hebrew nation as chosen by God. Nothing more. Nothing less.

i'm not talking about a individual, but a congregation as a whole.. i'm talking about a brother or sister that really hit hard times.. have there ever been an occasion where the brothers (elders).
decided to dip into the kh funds and help one in need????.
example, brother loose his job, get evicted, family of four or.
Based on the parameters you have mentioned, not one.
i am inactive for about 10 years now..
Inactive now for 2 years...mentally out a few years before that....
